GINGERBREAD

Ingredients:

• 1 cup sugar*

• 2 cups of self raising flour*

• 4oz margarine

• 2 dessertspoons golden syrup (try substituting 1 spoon with black treacle)

• 1 level teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

• 2 level teaspoons ground ginger

*The quantity isn't too important here as long as the same cup size is used for the flour and the sugar.

Method:

• Mix well with one cup of boiling milk

• Bake at gas mark 4, 180°C or 360°F  for approx. 45 minutes
