DATE SLICES
Ingredients:
4 oz self raising flour
4 oz margarine
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
6 oz sugar
4 oz oats
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 packet stoned dates
Method:
Boil dates until soft and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
Rub together the flour + margarine
Add 1 teaspoon bicarb
Stir in the sugar and the oats
Put ½ the mixture into a loaf tin and cover with dates
Then add the remaining mixture and press down
Bake at gas mark 4, 180°c or 360°f for approx 20 – 30 mins
Cover with icing sugar once cooled.
